Re: Number Pooling

Siemens Stromberg-Carlson (SSC) supports the ‘Pre-Porting’ option as the long term solution for number conservation using the NPA-NXX-X/LRN method. With this position, SSC would support the following:

• • SNAP-BACK to block holder governed by the NPAC-SMS-SCP.
  • RELease with cause code 26 for misrouted calls
  • LRN recording capability for block holder of non LERG assigned numbers
  • Vacant treatment provided by block holder
  • No change to subscriber administration

Because this capability is a departure from the established LNP requirements for call handling, there would be switch impacts to accomplish this. SSC can have this implementation available for the January 1, 1998 date.

As it is likely that the solution established from this committee will be adopted as the defacto standard for other number conservation efforts. SSC would like to encourage the committee to pursue ‘Pre-Porting’ using the NXXX/LRN method as the number pooling solution.
