Notes from 12/2 Conference Call
T1S1.6 National Standards meeting for LNP standards: Will be January 6-8, 1998 at the Parkway Hilton in Dallas. Chair is Brian Foster (GTE). His phone is 972-718-6350 and e-mail is brian.foster@telops.gte.com. I think he wanted to hear by 12/19 if you plan to attend so they can have an attendance count. There is a T1S1.6 website where material will be posted.
Meeting on LIDB message routing: LIDB user group will discuss the routing issue on January 15 in New Orleans. Contact is Arlene Eliot of Bellcore (732-758-2594).
NPAC Interface Updates: Im still working to locate a source for documents on changes for number pooling.
Number Pooling Process Flows: We looked at the Number pooling process flows developed by the NPAC and Operations subcommittees. (The 11/21 versions are now posted at Ported.Com.) Prior to NPAC automation ("interim period") only uncontaminated blocks of numbers will be used for pooling. Flow for interim period follows current porting flows. Additionally, need to see that LERG gets updated, and that effective times are "off hours".
Once automated NPAC processing is possible, NPAC processes and downloads pooled number blocks on the request ofthe pooling administrator, and "old" and "new" carriers no longer need to submit porting requests for the pooled DNs. We had a lot of questions on the automated flows for contaminated blocks. The Operations subcommittee wil continue to work on the flows, but some refinements may have to wait for selection of the number pooling administrator. Next Operations meeting will be Wednesday 12/17 at Ameritech in Hoffman Estates (contact Barry Bishop) the day before the next Steering Committee meeting.
Potential (very rough) time-line for pooling assumes administrator
selected by the end of January, February to refine processes, March to implement, begin interim pooling about April, new NPAC release in May, and automated pooling beginning June.
